Pandemic Preparedness Consultant

Fixed Term June - September 2021

ABOUT THE CONSULTANCY

This pandemic could have been prevented if only we were prepared. ONE is working to end this pandemic - but we also want to prevent the next.

We are actively seeking a consultant to co-create and co-manage a plan for ONE to help to shape ONE’s thinking on pandemic preparedness and content and serve as liaison with relevant partner groups and networks.

We want to think beyond the siloed thinking that got us here, and the boom and bust cycle of funding for health security and need a creative thinker who can help us design a strategy.

This role will report directly to the Senior Policy Director (Global Health) and has a level of effort estimated at 16 to 20 hours per week.

IN THIS CONSULTANT ROLE, YOU WILL

  • Assist with crafting and finalizing ONE’s strategic approach to pandemic preparedness.
  • Evaluate proposals, draft politically relevant policy briefs and other related communications, and advise on the best course of action for ONE.
  • Garner input, political intelligence and support ONE’s teams around their potential engagement with the political opportunities on pandemic preparedness.
  • Advise on communications and evaluations of pandemic-related activity.
  • WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • Global Health expertise with a minimum of eight (8) years relevant experience
  • A deep network in the health space, especially with key donors, stakeholders and decision makers
  • Excellent writing and policy analysis skills
  • Strong coordination skills
  • Demonstrated experience in managing key partnerships
  • Experience partnering with senior leadership and stakeholders to set and implement strategic plans
  • DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

  • Existing familiarity and relationships with health, security and climate change stakeholders
  • Self-starter with demonstrated initiative
  • Strategic orientation, ability to see beyond the numbers and serve as a true voice regarding strategic matters facing the organization.
  • Experience of working in Africa preferred
