KE Y PEFORMANC E AREAS

Management :

  • Provid e advic e t o th e CM O & CEO a s require d o n medical an d non-medica l issues , i n accordanc e wit h th e loca l an d nationa l polic y .
  • Develop and manage healthcare services for the ecosystem. Responsible to ensure timely access to qualit y services , patient safet y an d implementatio n o f th e hospital ’ s clinica l governanc e strateg y .
  • Manag e al l resource s withi n contro l i n th e mos t appropriat e wa y t o ensur e e f fective services , whil e ensurin g valu e fo r mone y .
  • W or k wit h Department Head s t o ensur e tha t th e hospita l meet s al l it s corporate responsibilities , includin g thos e regardin g finance , healt h an d safet y , etc.

  • W or k i n collaboratio n wit h heads of clinical departments , takin g a lea d rol e i n the developmen t an d implementatio n o f a medica l workforc e strateg y t o suppor t the deliver y o f bot h th e medica l agend a an d th e hospital ’ s clinica l strateg y .
  • Develo p th e rol e o f clinica l leader s withi n th e hospital , b y buildin g leadershi p capacity an d o f ferin g individua l mentorship , wher e appropriate.
  • Ensur e tha t th e medica l workforc e strateg y support s hospita l complianc e wit h statutory regulation s an d professiona l recommendations.
  • T ake the lead clinical role in developing and implementing the hospital ’ s clinical strateg y , ensurin g th e provisio n o f a n appropriat e an d e f fectiv e rang e o f service s and ensurin g tha t planne d change s o r development s ar e clinicall y sound.
  • Clinica l governanc e an d accountabilit y fo r patien t ca r e :

  • I n partnershi p wit h th e Chie f o f Nursing , ensur e th e developmen t an d deliver y o f an e f fective , outcome-focuse d nursin g strateg y .
  • Support the CMO fo r clinica l governanc e wit h particula r responsibilit y fo r clinical ef fectiveness.
  • Ensur e tha t SOPS ar e i n plac e an d ar e mad e know n t o al l doctors , fo r reportin g a colleagu e docto r whe n the y hav e concern s tha t thei r conduct , performanc e o r health migh t b e a threa t t o patients.
  • Lea d o n clinica l governanc e matter s involvin g doctors , wit h particula r referenc e to quality, infectio n control and risks management
  • Ensur e tha t th e hospita l clinica l ris k managemen t strateg y i s implemente d an d regularly reviewed.
  • W or k wit h th e Head o f HR , tak e responsibilit y fo r th e implementatio n o f H R policies amon g th e medica l sta f f , i n particula r th e policie s fo r dealin g wit h concerns , exclusions, conduct , performanc e an d sicknes s o f th e medica l sta f f.
  • Medica l management :

  • Provid e e f fectiv e professiona l leadershi p t o an d overse e th e managemen t of , al l the medica l sta f f workin g i n th e hospital.
  • Lea d an d develo p clinica l engagemen t i n th e managemen t fo r runnin g th e hospital.
  • I n conjunctio n wit h th e Head o f HR , ensur e tha t e f fectiv e system s ar e i n plac e fo r job plannin g an d appraisa l o f al l caree r grad e medica l sta f f.
  • Ensur e tha t policies , procedure s an d protocol s ar e implemente d t o manag e appraisals jo b planning , recruitment , selection , disciplinar y an d performanc e management processe s fo r al l th e sta f f.
  • P r ofessiona l advic e an d leadership :

  • Provide professional and clinical leadership in the delivery of healthcar e service s an d b e responsibl e fo r supervisin g th e conduc t an d performance o f al l doctor s workin g i n th e hospital.
  • B e th e guardia n fo r th e hospita l an d ensur e tha t th e hospita l complie s wit h al l the requirement s fo r institutiona l governance.
  • Represen t th e hospita l o n Medica l Committee s an d othe r suc h bodies as directed by
  • the CMO.

  • Encourag e continuou s improvemen t an d excellenc e i n th e provisio n o f clinica l services throughou t th e hospital.
  • Advis e th e managemen t o n th e impac t o f professiona l issues , statutor y
  • Requirements

    TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Should be a qualified specialist Physician ideally with a professional qualification. Fully registered and licenced with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
  • MBA or its equivalent would be an advantage.

  • Should have a satisfactory record of continuous professional development.
  • Should be up-to-date with knowledge of current health agenda.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a clinical leadership position, Medical administration & managing multiple site business operations.
  • Should have a sound knowledge of clinical governance and effective systems of medical management, such as job planning, appraisal and clinical assessment.
  • Should understand medical recruitment and training matters. Experience in fiscal accountability and budgeting.
  • Demonstrable leadership role and achievement in a complex healthcare delivery system.
  • Working knowledge of key regional and national initiatives impacting on quality care delivery and accreditation
  • Working knowledge of key issues around Learning and Development
  • Knowledge and experience of quality infrastructure is needed, including how to develop and implement decision tools, clinical protocols and guidelines, care management programs, and outcome measurement assessments.
  • Needs working knowledge of information technology, including statistical analysis, clinical epidemiology, and medical informatics;
  • understanding of best practices and how to successfully introduce information technology into clinical practice.
