Provide Technical Assistance to the SURF Package Teams in term of metallurgy, welding and non-destructive testing applications.
Ensure that Contractors are followings the applicable Project Specifications, General Specifications and International Codes / Standards.
Review and approve the welding matrix and welding procedure specification to be qualified.
Participate on welding procedure qualification, including NDE, Mechanical Testing when required.
Participate on the Welders and Welding Operators qualifications.
Review and approve welding procedure specifications (WPS), welding procedure qualification records (WPQR) and Welder Qualification Records (WQR).
Review and approve the NDE procedures and Operators.
Ensure that Welders and Welding Operators have valid qualifications for the work they are undertaking
Monitor performance of Production Tests and NDE in terms of quality and frequency, ensuring conformity with relevant specifications and codes
Monitor, with a team of Welding Inspectors, the welding work carried out by Contractor to ensure that proper welding procedures, duly qualified welders and proper welding consumables are in use.
Ensure that Contractor maintains accurate welding records throughout the contractual period
Organize and conduct process audits for his field of activity
Ensure that acceptable standards of welding quality are maintained and that repair rates remain at an acceptable level
Support the rest of the team and propose alternative courses of action, wherever possible, to facilitate efficient Project progress
Participate in regular meetings to keep abreast with all issues relating to the Project. Discuss and review opportunities for the optimization of assigned work programs
Ensure timely delivery of Preliminary welding tests and NDE documents to enable the procurement and construction processes to progress, with the objective to reduce costs without impacting the schedule or the required level of quality and safety.
HSE ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The Welding Engineer would ensure that Third Party (Certifying Authority) reviewed and approved the welding documentation and applicable records.
Monitor the implementation of safety procedures and working practices by Contractor.
Welding, NDT & Metallurgy
QC Experience and prior qualifications
Degree Qualified in Materials or Welding Engineer (ESSA) or experienced technician with HND / HNC and minimum of 10 years experiences in the oil and gas industry.
Professional Experience : Minimum 10 years of experience associated with Welding, Metallurgy, Mechanical Testing and Non Destructive Testing.
Minimum 5 years experience of applicable codes and standards such as API 1104, ASME V-VIII-IX, BSI PD 5500 and AWS D1.1.
Experience on previous projects is an advantage.
Others Requirements :
A familiarity with General Specifications (GS) and codes / standards.
Be skilled in using computer programs for word processing, database management, spreadsheets and e-mail communications.
