Job Summary : Responsibilities :
Establishment of a formal risk management framework for the bank.
Oversee the overall management of the unit, develop the unit’s budget, develop the department scorecard and cascade to individual KPI’s for all staff in the team.
Ensure that adequate policies and controls are in place to manage the adverse effects of both business and control risks in the bank’s operations.
Evaluate along with the Head of Corporate Strategy Planning and Compliance (CSPC), the adequacy of the bank’s risk management system and control environment.
Review the processes for accessing and improving controls for the management of risk in the bank.
Ensure the bank’s information security policies, business continuity, management and disaster recovery plans are comprehensive and adequate.
Monitor compliance with established policies through periodic review of reports provided by management, statutory auditors, and the supervisory authorities.
Review reports on the bank’s risk profile, the action plans in place to manage key risks, and monitor progress against plan to achieve this actions.
Review and obtain approval for the bank’s risk management policy including risk appetite and risk strategy.
Oversee management’s process for the identification of significant risks across the bank and the adequacy of prevention, detection and reporting mechanisms.
Review the bank’s compliance level with applicable laws and regulatory requirements that may impact the bank’s risk profile.
Periodically review changes in the economic and business environment, including emerging trends and other factors relevant to the bank’s risk profile.
Perform other duties and functions as assigned by the Executive Director or Executive Management.
Ensure that there is adequate risk management procedures and controls for new products and recommended same to Risk Management Committee for review and board’s approval
Ensure the bank’s information Technology governance framework is reviewed at least once annually and that the Information Technology asset are effectively managed
Ensure periodic review of changes in the economic and business environment, emerging trends as well as other factors relevant to the bank’s risk profile and make appropriate recommendations to the Risk Management Committee and the Board.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulatory requirements which may impact the Bank’s risk profile
Report to the Executive Director Risk and Control.
Assist executive management with the identification, assessment, management, monitoring and reporting of all the risks within the bank.
It shall recommend the bank’s policies to the Board for approval, provide objective oversight and coordinate ERM activities.
Champion the implementation of the Enterprise Risk Management framework, (including specific risk management frameworks and policies) and other related initiatives across the Bank and its subsidiaries.
Develop risk policies, principles, processes and reporting standards that define the Bank’s risk strategy and appetite in line with the Bank’s overall business objectives;
Define limits (within the overall approved risk appetite) for other units in the Bank / Subsidiaries and monitor compliance with bank wide risk policies and limits;
Ensure that controls, skills and systems are in place to enable compliance with the Bank’s policies and standards;
Facilitate the identification, assessment, measurement, monitoring, controlling and reporting the level of risks in the Bank and its subsidiaries
Collect, process, verify, monitor and distribute risk information across the Bank and other material risk issues to senior management, the board, regulators and other stakeholders;
Collaborate with market facing units in designing new products
Provide senior management with practical, cost effective recommendations for mitigating risks;
Act as a key contact for senior management who may wish to request ad hoc reviews / investigations on risk matters;
Ensure that laws, regulations and supervisory requirements are complied with including consequence management;
Provide holistic view of risks across the Bank;
Maintain oversight over the Bank’s enterprise risk management activities; coordinate material risk assessment and link the results of the exercise with the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP);
Develop and ensure all risk models utilised for the measurement of risk across the Bank are properly validated using an appropriate methodology;
Oversee the conduct of stress testing and scenario analysis and evaluate the impact of stress scenarios on the capital ratios;
Coordinates with Financial Control regarding the Bank’s capital management policies;
Make recommendations with respect to capital allocation, pricing and reward / sanctions based on risk reports;
Provide and promote risk awareness and education on risk; and
Provide assurance on compliance with internal and external policies with respect to risk management.
Has primary responsibility for the development and maintenance of the framework, and shall ensure that it continuously reflects the Bank’s approach to risk management.
The various heads of risk management functions shall support the Head, Enterprise Risk Management in the review and implementation of all elements of the framework.
Consult with relevant stakeholders in making such recommendations for the setting of risk appetites while taking into account the current position of the Bank, its business plan and any regulatory requirement.
To ensure that risk taking remains within limits approved by the Board of Directors, any material exception will be reported to Executive Management and Board of Directors who in turn must trigger appropriate corrective measures
Provide a central oversight (complemented by other departments) for risk management, covering all material risks across the Bank and its subsidiaries.
This shall ensure that the risks are properly identified, assessed, measured, monitored and controlled in order to minimize adverse outcomes.
Co-ordinate the monitoring and reporting of all risks across the Bank.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or any related field.
At least 5 years related experience in a financial institution, including an emphasis on risk, project management, and problem-solving.
Must have strong written skills, communication skills, and possess the ability to building trust and relationships with senior executives.
