Department Description

The Asia Risk team, part of Fidelity’s Global Risk Function, supports the growth of the business by cultivating an effective risk culture and ensuring that the risk framework is thoroughly embedded throughout the business through active engagement with business units, review and challenge of the control environment, ensuring that risks are within the stated risk appetite, reporting of risks and risk indicators, and provision of training and education.

Purpose of your role

The purpose of this role is to support the ongoing rollout and implementation of Fidelity’s global risk framework across Asia Pacific.

  • This will include the review and oversight of risk across the region; the identification and assessment of risks and controls, challenging business management on their risk awareness;
  • and completion of risk event lessons learnt. The role will work closely with the Global Risk team, other oversight functions, and first line of defence teams.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for developing ongoing relationships with first line and business teams, providing risk insights and helping the business understand their risk profile.
  • Embed Group-wide risk management frameworks within the region
  • Assist with error / risk event identification, escalation, analysis and reporting across Asia Pacific. Perform root cause analysis and challenge business findings.
  • Participate in New Business and Project Risk workshops which draw out potential risks and ensure that appropriate actions plans are implemented.
  • Understand, review, and challenge the business on risk acceptances on new business initiatives.

  • Perform scenario analysis for input into FIL capital calculations. Bring together risk information from all elements of the risk framework and combine with industry knowledge to prepare comprehensive scenarios which can generate value added business discussion and identify and measure current and emerging risks.
  • Lead Risk and Control Self Assessments across the region, challenge the business view on risks, and ensure adequate assessment of current and emerging risks.
  • Coordinate and improve risk reporting to Asia Pacific management and Boards
  • Coordinate and support business, country, and regional level risk meetings and forums
  • Establish strong relationships with other oversight functions such as Legal and Compliance.
  • Carry out thematic reviews, deep dive risk assessments, and other ad-hoc tasks as required.
  • Experience and Qualifications Required

  • A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a dedicated risk management capacity or similar role (e.g. Audit) within a financial services organisation
  • Strong influencing skills, proven experience and success in identifying key stakeholders and building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Previous experience in an Asia-Pacific regional role would be an advantage
  • Hands-on mentality
  • Comfortable working independently under pressure and in a constantly changing environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Dedicated to maintaining high quality standards and client satisfaction
  • University degree in Business Management, Finance or similar
