What we're looking for

You will help to solve analytical problems across the organization and grow profitability by maintaining a keen eye on risk assessment.

You will own and make data-driven decisions to optimize the performance of our portfolio and own our risk strategy.

You must be a reliable, analytical and hard-working individual, interacting with both our internal teams as well as clients.

You are obsessed with numbers, a good communicator, self-motivated, a natural problem solver, and have a passion for fintech.

You are unconventional and relentless in finding out of the box solutions to risk-related problems.

Our ideal candidate will also have or be looking to gain experience working in an African startup - preferably fintech or agritech.

Responsibilities

  • Build a robust risk strategy and framework for the company’s financing / on-lending activities
  • Own and drive performance of the lending portfolio, and direction for the company in this regard
  • Conduct thorough analysis of financial statements and assessment of credit requests, including new requests, changed requests, refinancing and due diligence
  • Incorporate dynamic models into the credit risk assessment process to determine effective deployment of capital
  • Present frequent forecasts, reports and recommendations to management and other teams - Operations, Finance
  • Develop and prepare spreadsheets and models to support analysis of new and existing credit applications
  • Build the Risk team to grow alongside the company
  • Confer with credit associations and references to exchange credit information on clients
  • Evaluate the financial status of customers by producing financial ratios
  • Assist customers with information required to build healthy credit scores and improve their risk framework
  • Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in risk, finance, statistics, or other business-related fields
  • 5+ years of strong quantitative experience building statistical models
  • Prior experience in invoice ageing, purchase order analysis is a huge plus
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and / or languages
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines for projects in a high-pressure work environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to notice discrepancies in data
  • Impeccable understanding of financial statements, ratios, and concepts
