Millar Cameron is a global leading recruitment consultancy, specialising in the African consumer sector. Presently, we are recruiting on behalf of one of Africa’s largest FMCG businesses who is sourcing a commercially focused General Manager to oversee 2 feed mills and 2 storage facilities, and adjust their current business model.

With their 2 mills producing 500 tonnes of feed an hour, this is a sizeable role that will comprise of directing the group’s largest division within their Agro-

Allied operations, overseeing full P&L responsibility and improving sales through relationship management. The General Manager will have the following responsibilities :

  • Responsible for overseeing all operations across the mill
  • Making sure that all operations are run efficiently within budgets
  • Provide deeper market insights to identify other sales opportunities
  • Authorizing expenditure within the department
  • Ensuring that all material purchases are done so within guidelines
  • Setting targets and checking performance of staff
  • Control of stock levels, ensuring an efficient response to forecasted requirements
  • Monitoring production and output
  • Efficient maintenance of plant, buildings etc.
  • Managing external contractors
  • Overseeing all Health & Safety within the mill
  • Drive efficiency gains reduce overheads, reduce loss / wastage, improve production The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience :
  • Experience within animal feed at a senior management level
  • 10+ years working within the sector in animal feed organisations
  • Experience working in Africa or other emerging markets
  • Bachelor’s degree in animal sciences or similar
  • Exposure to automation and control (desirable) The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience :
