Job Purpose : The CDD team is responsible for providing centralized support for the Retail Banking business in the compilation of CDD, liaising with the Relationship Managers (RMs), clients, legal and compliance, as required, to streamline CDD for new client on boarding and reviews.

RMs have the ultimate accountability for ensuring all the CDD requirements are fulfilled for their portfolio of clients.

The remediation portfolio consists of cases which require remediation outside of the normal review cycle.The CDD Remediation Analyst is responsible for the creation and review of CDD remediation cases, managing cases through the review and approval process.

Key roles & responsibilities :

  • Remediation of KYC / CDD deficient documents
  • Handling of and delivery of various CDD projects
  • To verify and update client’s identification document on the bank’s systems and platforms
  • To ensure documents provided by clients complies with the AML / CDD guidelines and regulatory requirement
  • To be the Librarian and soft copy custodian for CDD documents submitted by clients for remediation.
  • To ensure client documentation conforms to the applicable local and Group standards
  • To ensure data quality on the relevant Bank systems is consistent with source documents and client profiles
  • Understand Group policies and procedures regarding client documentation, fraud risk management, operational risk management
  • Working closely with the remediation team leader and RMs to ensure that assigned cases are managed in accordance with agreed process turnaround timescales.
  • Understand the CDD guidelines, regulations, policy interpretation and drive in-country adherence / adoption of policy changes / updates.
  • Engage with RM / Frontline and relevant stakeholders to plan work distribution ensuring completion within timescales.
  • Management of key stakeholders with and across the networks to address issues / concerns.
  • Provide guidance on CDD SCB policies and procedures to RMs. Business :

  • Lead through example and build the appropriate culture and values. Set appropriate tone and expectations from their team and work in collaboration with risk and control partners. Risk Management :
  • Execution responsibility for identifying, assessing, monitoring, controlling and mitigating financial crime risk, sanctions risk and reputational risks to the Group.
  • Also, an awareness and understanding of the main risks facing the Group and the role the individual plays in managing them Regulatory & Business conduct :

  • Display exemplary conduct and live by the Group’s Values and Code of Conduct.
  • Take personal responsibility for embedding the highest standards of ethics, including regulatory and business conduct, across Standard Chartered Bank.
  • This includes understanding and ensuring compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and the Group Code of Conduct.

  • Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigate and resolve risk, conduct and compliance matters. Key Stakeholders :
  • Retail Relationship / Branch Managers
  • Retail Compliance teams (including Specialised Activities Team) Other Responsibilities :
  • Embed Here for good and Group’s brand and values in CDD Operations Nigeria. Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures.
  • QUALIFICATIONS - training, licenses, memberships and certifications

  • Experience and knowledge in Banking industry with AML Experience
  • Must be certified (as prescribed for the role) by completing all relevant SCB e-assessments (once these are rolled out)
