Our Client is a leading construction firm based in Lagos, Nigeria. They are looking to hire a Construction Quality Control Manager to join their team.

Description of the Role

The Construction Quality Control Manager (CQCM) is responsible for managing and performing daily QC responsibilities to ensure that projects are carried out in accordance with the requirements set forth in the firm’s construction contract documents.

The CQCM role includes direct oversight and review of the entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the workflow process and involves working with other in-

house personnel (e.g. : Project Managers, Project Coordinators, etc.) and external personnel (Subcontractors, Vendors, etc.

to produce quality results.

Projects to be completed comprise mainly interior works (external cladding, curtain walls, windows, ceilings, handrails, etc.).

Requirements

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in quality management with a strong attention to building compliance regulations
  • Interior construction experience with external cladding, curtain walls, windows, ceilings, handrails, etc. is a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of construction compliance regulations
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to focus on critical elements and, at the same time, remain mindful of the big picture
  • Able to spot non-compliance building activities on site
  • Excellent team player with the ability to work independently and through own initiative
  • Able to handle multiple projects at the same time
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express complex ideas in simpler terms
  • Experience as a site manager will be a plus
  • Responsibilities

  • Create, update and maintain the project logs and all other project specific quality control reports.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications
  • Chair and document weekly QC meetings with project heads and provide written minutes as described in project specific contract documents
  • Provide daily QC reports documenting daily activities
  • Conduct preparatory, initial and follow-up meetings to establish an understanding of the standards of care desired for each definable feature of the work
  • Verify and document that all materials received for the project are in conformance with the approved submittals
  • Perform quality control testing and inspections in strict adherence with contract requirements
  • Confirm that proper sampling, testing and inspection methods and protocols are adhered to
  • Perform any other related duties as may be assigned
