Job Summary :

This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the performance of accounting and bookkeeping functions on a number of farms and an Estate.

Based initially in Ilorin, but being mobile and flexible, and moving between an Estate in Edo State, and moving to a Farm in the Kwara State the incumbent will be responsible for :

Job description :

1) Maintains files, including filing of general ledger journals, vouchers, accounts payable documentation, vouchers receipts and other miscellaneous filings.

2) Generation of Cash requisitions, processing CPV (cash Voucher Payments) and other misc. disbursements.

3) Reconciles all revenues from sales. Check balances against accounting receipt records and prepares bank account deposit documents.

Confirmation of deposit totals and makes bank account deposits and withdrawals on Farm Manager’s instruction.

4) Prepares requisitions for offices, computer, and routine supply purchases with due approval of the Farm Manager.

5) Coordinates month-end procedures (including cash count) and year- end closing and ensure returns are dispatched to the head office (every two weeks) on timely fashion.

6) Maintains regular contacts with Account Dept. in Head Office and other departments in the farm (HR, Stores, and Workshop etc.

to obtain and convey information and / or to correct transactions.

7) Handle customer and employee accounts receivable and assist the Farm Manager with accounts payables and preparation of cheques / EFT.

8) Assists in the maintenance of local internal controls and ensure all internal procedures relating to all financial transactions of the farm are being followed.

9) Assumes responsibility for effectively researching, tracking, and resolving ( or properly referring) accounting or documentation problems and discrepancies.

10) Performs any other related duties as may be assigned by the Farm Manager.

11) Internal Audit of physical stocks, and recording systems of labour, purchases and issues, will be assisted by the Finance Officer.

12) Asset Register maintenance will be performed by the incumbent

The incumbent should be in possession of a HND or BSc in Accounting. Prior experience in a similar role would be advantageous.

Assess impact upon current or pending M&A and JV transactions.

Analyse tax requirements and current positions.

Determine changes to key tax positions, provisions, process, and technology.

Identity and inventory tax issues & opportunities.

Determine changes to financial & statutory reporting processes.

Determine changes to close and consolidation processes.

Analyse entity, process, and period end close controls.

Determine IFRS business impact upon technical infrastructure.

Identify required enhancements to financial systems.

Perform stake holder analysis.

Utilize assessment analysis to develop business case.

Ensure the financial policies and procedures across the whole company are set in accordance with Group policy and Standards, Nigerian GAAP and International Accounting Standards.

Maintain and distribute accounting manuals and ensure this is in compliance with IFRS, Nigerian GAAP and actual practices.

Qualification

B.Sc. Accounting or related subjects

Professional Accounting Qualification (ICAN, ACCA, ACA etc.)

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience spanning the following;
  • 3 years’ experience handling complex IFRS

    2 years’ experience in a Financial Management capacity or 3 years audit experience.

    Process reengineering / project management experience

    Experience of IFRS conversions and implementation in businesses
