SMARTCAREERS is sponsoring a special programme meant to groom gifted SS1 Students for admission into Harvard, Yale, MIT, Oxford, Cambridge, and other Ivy League universities in the USA and UK on scholarship. The grooming which will hold at weekends and during holidays in Ikeja, Lagos will cater for 50 teenagers at this level of education who will complete their secondary school education by July, 2020 and transit to university abroad on scholarship immediately. This will save the beneficiaries one year and save their parents one full session of school fees, give the beneficiaries access to the best quality higher education the world provides today without the prohibitive cost that is usually associated with it. The worth of the scholarship they will receive (for their study abroad) on successful completion of the programme is about N100Million. This special project is superintended by a leading International Education Scholar with a PhD in Education and Career Management. The intensive grooming is handled by outstanding specialist teachers who have been trained specifically for this critical role they have to play. To be accepted into the programme, a minimum grade point average of 65% in current class is required. The selection process which is rigorous and competitive involves both the prospective gifted SS1 students and their parents who must be self-motivated and have clear ideas regarding how they will use what the programme will offer them to benefit society. Successful applicants for this job will have responsibility for creating awareness in secondary schools and among parents for this opportunity so we can guarantee equity and inclusiveness in the selection process. Digital Marketing skills, teaching experience at the senior secondary school level, Marketing/Psychology/Education credentials and membership of parents groups online and offline are major requirements.
