Position Overview :

The Business Development Manager is responsible for direct pursuits of Municipal Government and federally-designated Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs).

The MPOs have responsibility for planning, programming, and coordination of federal highway and transit investments. The quality of metropolitan transportation infrastructure is a key factor in regional economic competitiveness and for the Business Development Manager Municipal Government, transportation infrastructure is a primary focus.

The role is responsible for engagement with Municipal / Regional planners, public officials, and industry stakeholders in transportation projects that support public policy, regional development, and program execution related to activities for all travel modes.

This position requires strategic thinking, exceptional communication, executive-level relationship skills, and the ability to integrate client requirements and priorities into a cohesive and achievable customer success plan.

The ideal candidate must have experience delivering asset management, civil design, or enterprise resource planning solutions to state government and / or local municipalities.

The candidate understands how to develop business in the public sector and enjoys working on complex, long-term strategic, and innovative opportunities in a diverse ecosystem of public agencies, technology providers, policymakers, trade associations, and industry consultants.

The candidate’s experience includes creating proposals and responding to public sector opportunities in planning, design, construction, and maintenance directly with municipal owners.

The candidate should be skilled in consultative selling, recommending the proper technology and solutions in world-class proposals.

The Public Sector division leads the sale of hardware, software, and services to government and private sector clients throughout the segment.

The candidate will operate in a cross-functional, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The Business Development Manager - Municipal Government is responsible for all direct and indirect (partner) sales within the assigned region including identifying, qualifying, and developing all new business opportunities.

This position requires a highly flexible and driven self-starter with excellent communication and time management skills.

The successful candidate will be comfortable engaging in business development and remote collaboration in a virtual environment with special attention to Trimble s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion values.

Job Responsibilities :

Provide thought-leadership and build brand awareness with digital delivery technology by communicating inspirational, credible, and differentiated stories to customers and stakeholders.

Manage sales opportunity pipeline with active participation in business development, sales presentations, lead generation, analysis of emerging trends, and the competitive landscape.

Develop the strategic plan and growth strategy for long-term success in identified accounts.

End-to-end responsibility for the entire sales cycle including, prospecting, development of the pipeline, and sales forecast to deliver target revenue.

Coordinate and facilitate the execution of large projects with internal stakeholders across Trimble.

Define clear objectives and key results for targeted accounts to facilitate cross-sell and upsell of Trimble solutions across the product portfolio.

Attend trade shows, association and industry events as a technology thought leader and presenter.

Leverage market intelligence, analytical skills, evangelism, product knowledge, and outstanding communication and presentation skills to sell and close business.

Work with internal teams to develop project proposals, RFI, and RFP documentation and validate related scope of work submissions.

Engage the channel partner network to develop and uncover revenue opportunities for the company.

Possess a strong sense of accountability, ownership and pride in work performed.

Required Qualifications & Experience :

Demonstrated sales experience, industry knowledge, and relationships in state and / or municipal government

5+ years in sales or project management experience selling to public sector owners

Must be credible and effective in engaging C-level executives both in person and in a virtual environment

Direct experience developing business strategy and sales tactics to effectively build and capture new business

Business background and proactive attitude

Must be able to demonstrate a significant number of contacts and networking in-depth knowledge of the construction industry

Proven track record of quota attainment and experience growing net new pipeline

Experience working on large public infrastructure projects

Experience selling construction or asset management software, BIM / CDE, digital transformation, and / or related technologies

Energetic, self-motivated team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment with the dedication to help the company grow

Creativity, ability to think outside the box, and attention to detail is required

Experience working for a municipal government, civil infrastructure contractor, or large engineering firm is preferred

Technology background within the construction industry is a plus

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, regional planning, or equivalent education

Other Requirements :

Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% of the time.

Ability to effectively work remote at home office and / or other locations as needed

This compensation range is based on a full time schedule.
