    Norwegian Church Aid ('NCA') is a member of the ACT Alliance and works with people and local actors, especially Faith-based actors in many countries where it works in their struggle to eradicate poverty and injustices.

    We provide humanitarian assistance in disasters and work for long-term development in local communities and societies. In order to address the root causes of poverty, we advocate for just decisions by public authorities, businesses and religious leaders.

    NCA has a presence in Nigeria to respond to the Humanitarian crisis in Northeast Nigeria and also have humanitarian intervention in Cross River and Benue states.

    NCA has its core competencies in Gender-Based Violence and Water Sanitation and Hygiene. NCA has its strengths in works and invests in local partners ensures building their capacities are built from the onset of response, in order to enable them have the capacity to respond in a long-

    term intervention including recovery and development.

    Job location :

    Adikpo, Benue state with frequent travel to field locations in the Cross River States.

    Reporting to : Head of Mission

    Generic Responsibilities

    Ensure that the beneficiaries and community are involved in the project implementationConduct regular meetings with community members to discuss program objectives, and mobilize the community participation and act as a mentor throughout the planning and implementation processes.

    Routinely monitor the projects activities and feedback findings to the community members and other stakeholdersResponsible for generating weekly action planParticipate in the selection of beneficiaries and training for beneficiariesPerforms any other duties as requested by the supervisor

    Specific Responsibilities

    The Shelter Assistant is expected to achieve the following during this contract period :

    Work with his line manager to ensure volunteer and construction schedule is accurate and achievable.Ensure timely delivery of construction materials.

    Supervise the construction of shelter and other infrastructure are in line with the approved design and bill of quantities.

    Responsible for training and on job coaching carpenters and IDPs participating in the constructionPerform other duties as required by program needs and requested byline manager.

    Timely reporting, on a weekly and monthly basis, (identifying gaps, risks and bottlenecks that can obstruct proper implementation of activities)

    Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Completion of university degree in database, humanities, social studies, or another relevant degreeMinimum one years of experience in international and / or local NGO;
  • ideally involved in the direct implementation of field level humanitarian assistance to refugees or IDPs.Experience in community services, women empowerment, youth activities, protection, distribution or registration

    Preferred experience :

    Proficiency in English and local language, both oral and written.Preferable experience operating in a refugee / IDP camp environment.

    Lead in making sure information management tools are updated regularlyAssisting in all aspects of the creation and monitoring of camp committeesAssisting in carrying out assessments and surveys within the siteOrienting incentivized labour hired from within the campEnsure timely and adequate registration of IDPs in camp, including identification of persons with specific needs in coordination with protection partners.

    Spearheading outreach campaigns in the camp and ensuring that information is being properly conveyed and circulated to the camp communityMonitor status of population and highlighting trends with camp management teamTreat community members in a sensitive and humane mannerAssist in any other areas related with CCCM as may be requested by line manager

    Qualifications / Skills Required

  • Completion of university degree in database, humanities, social studies, or another relevant degreeMinimum one years of experience in international and / or local NGO;
