About the Project :
TechnoServe Nigeria, in partnership with Exxon Mobil plans to Increase the Economic Opportunity of 1000 Women rice farmers and processors in Kano and Jigawa by increasing their incomes through training, access to quality inputs, access to suitable and affordable land, access to financial services, and linkage to market through aggregation.
Primary Purpose :
The primary purpose of the employee is to provide technical, market and expertise services by supporting the field teams in facilitating business linkages, provide technical assistance for the project team and monitoring of performance.
It should be understood that the tasks outlined below are the key responsibilities, but the employee is expected to perform any tasks that are necessary within the context of the evolving needs of the program.
As the Senior Business Advisor at TechnoServe Nigeria, your duties and responsibilities will be :
Duties & Responsibilities :
Support the Project coordinator in designing and executing the planned interventions
Coordinate meetings with Project team, Consultants and Country office staff. Set up meetings, drafts and disseminates meeting agendas, prepares briefing notes and where necessary
Take meeting minutes, which may include preparing and disseminating materials as instructed.
Identify new opportunities for market linkages for the project beneficiaries including the development of off-take agreements.
Identify with stakeholders and perform a thorough assessment (Initial and subsequent) of emanating, existing and envisaged problematic situations and proffer solution.
Analyze and interpret data to unearth weaknesses and problems, and comprehend the causes
Formulate recommendations and solutions for project activities
Facilitate, develop and manage co-operatives and farmer groups; focus on capacity building and governance structures
Assist in implementing the plan that helps resolve any occasional discrepancies and irregularities
Strict adherence to the timeframe of assignments in project life-scope
Any other tasks that may be assigned.
Required Skills & Experience :
Fluency in Hausa and English
At least 5 years’ experience in capacities relating to either Agribusiness, Education, Marketing, Business development or Advisory services
At least 2 years’ prior experience with development organizations in a similar role
Prior experience supporting community-based farmer-groups
Prior experience working on gender-focused projects is a plus
Ability to provide leadership and guidance to others
Ability to actively engage with stakeholders, particularly community leaders, farmer groups and private sector actors
Ability to develop well written, cohesive analyses and reports
Ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Work Station : the successful candidate will be based at TNS Kano office, Nigeria with travels.
