The person holding this position will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all utility plant equipment and assist with maintenance tasks as assigned.

they are also required to drive improvement across the site in terms of new machinery, hygiene, quality, and performance.

Job Duties :

  • Attend to breakdowns onsite ensuring that there is always a rapid response and that plant equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimized.
  • Always endeavor to reduce downtime of site plant and machinery.

  • Deliver on plant uptime and maintenance KPI’s through planned, preventative & predictive maintenance;
  • Maintaining tools and equipment, so that they are in a safe working condition; as well as making sure that the workshop and plant rooms are safe environments at all times.
  • Always adhere to Technical procedures and Good Manufacturing Processes (GMP);
  • Make sure that there are good reporting and communication channels in place between Production, the Engineering team, and Engineering management;
  • Responsible for all reactive and proactive maintenance work, whilst making sure it is carried out to the highest possible standards across the whole of the site.
  • Maintains accuracy of the shift operating logs, records, timesheets, work orders, and other administrative documents related to the power plant.
  • Investigates plant problems, incidents, accidents, and unusual events, and provides analyses, recommendations, reports, and appropriate follow-up plans.
  • Develops, assists, and revises operations and maintenance-related procedures.
  • Performs routine preventive and predictive maintenance on all systems and equipment; supports corrective maintenance efforts on selected equipment when properly trained or supervised.
  • Requirements :

  • 2 years minimum experience in Plant Operations as a shift Operations Engineer.
  • Minimum HND / BSC Mechanical Engineering Degree.
  • Experience of working in a chilled or frozen environment preferable;
  • Experience in managing contractors on-site.
  • Knowledge of and experience in : mechanical maintenance, rigging, rotating machine repair, fabrication, machine alignment, basic vibration analysis, and using electrical test equipment
  • Ability to locate, trouble-shoot, and adjust defects in mechanical equipment and / or maintain, install, modify, and troubleshoot plant electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various analytical and test equipment.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
