NOTE : The responsibilities include the main General and Special responsibilities listed below. In addition the OIM or any superior may assign any other tasks to be performed.


  • To carry out duty watch as instructed. To carry out maintenance work and other operational tasks within the deck department as required.
  • Act as Crane Operator if needed (see Crane Operator job description)

  • To be fully familiar with regulations and work procedures applicable to the task to be executed.
  • General maintenance and repair. This can include maintenance of the ship’s structures such as chipping, scraping, cleaning, priming and painting.
  • Also perform maintenance of lifeboats, rescue boats, life rafts etc.

  • Perform all operations connected with the launching of lifesaving equipment.
  • To be able to operate deck machinery and cargo gear.
  • To execute assigned tasks in conformance with work procedures and / or quality plans as instructed by the responsible officer or the Bosun.
  • To execute assigned tasks safely, to the highest standards, and to report hazardous conditions without delay to the Duty Operator or Bosun.
  • Be familiar with the PTW System
  • NOTE :

    This Job Description shall be read in conjunction with Chapter 3 of FPSO Knock Allan Operation Manual which is available to all personnel.

    If you do not have access to the Chapter or do not have a copy of the Chapter, you may request a copy of the Chapter from your Supervisor.

    Responsibilities and duties specified in Chapter 3 shall be performed as any other responsibility or duty stated in this

  • Able Seafarer Deck Certificate, STCW95 Reg. II / 5
  • For other certificates and training, see Company Training Matrix, Unit Specific Training Matrix and CBT Matrix

  • Meet the requirements for certification as a rating forming part of a navigational watch;
  • While qualified to serve as a rating forming part of a navigational watch, have approved seagoing service in the deck department of;
  • Not less than 18 months, or
  • Not less than 12 months and have completed approved training; and
  • Meet the standard of competence specified in section A-II / 5 of the STCW Code
  • Good English written and spoken
