Job Title Production Manager

Location : Ota, Nigeria

About the Company : Our client is the subsidiary of a conglomerate that specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of Alcoholic drink, Beverages, Liquors, Wine and Spirit products.

The Company is seeking to hire a resourceful Production Manager that will be responsible for the planning and coordination of the entire production process in the plant.

S / He will lead and direct the production team to meet the business goals while ensuring production is of high quality, on time and on budget in a safe work environment.

The ideal candidate for this role must be highly experienced in scheduling production runs and skilled in people management to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiency.

S / He must have deep knowledge of the peculiarities and nuances of production machinery and processes.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of all production activities to include safety, quality, schedule adherence and cost.
  • Oversee every aspect of the production process, from the acquisition and processing of raw materials to the bottling and dispatch of the finished product.
  • Support and directs line managers and other subordinates to accomplish these goals.
  • Attend daily and weekly tastings to test the quality of the beer being produced and collaborate with laboratory staff to evaluate chemical composition analysis of the beers being produced and raw materials being used.
  • Promote a safe working environment by continually identifying safety improvements and taking appropriate action(s) when necessary.
  • Identify the root cause(s) of poor quality and take measures to eliminate the problem.
  • Create strategy, drive implementation, monitor compliance and write effective progress report suitable for reference and decision making.
  • Create schedules so all stages of the production process are performed on time and production targets are met.
  • Create an appropriate budget for production runs and provide the steps necessary to ensure the budget is met during production runs.
  • Liaise and maintain a good relationship with suppliers of raw materials for brewing beer, packaging suppliers, and brewing equipment suppliers.
  • Create and adopt a philosophy of continual improvement in the quality of the finished product.
  • Develop training and mentorship programs to improve the skills of workers.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations according to the Company policy and provide appropriate disciplinary measures when necessary.
  • Interact routinely with the management team to ensure production schedules meet customers’ needs while balancing the age of full goods inventory and minimizing stock-out situations.
  • Work with the production team to develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of production : brewing, cellaring, wood-aging, packaging, maintenance and QA / QC.
  • Develop performance and productivity metrics for all production areas and hold team members accountable for achieving these goals.
  • Own production sustainability goals and seek out innovative solutions to not only ensure achievement but continually enhance production performance.
  • Oversee sanitation and upkeep of all production facilities including the main brewery, fermentation cellar, and packaging areas.
  • Look to incorporate elements of lean manufacturing principles as appropriate.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science, chemistry, or engineering.
  • MBA or Msc in relevant field would be an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the production field in a distillery or brewery with at least 4 years in a senior management position.
  • Proven experience running a production line and implementing quality assurance schemes.
  • Experience working in Glass, PET and Sachet Production Lines.
  • Proven ability in using best practice manufacturing techniques to improve a distillery or brewery.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of brewing practices and understanding of process controls.
  • Experience working on carbonation.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and safety standards.
  • Knowledge of government regulatory programs.
  • Ability to drive improvement and innovation at a distillery or brewery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent leadership skills, the ability to motivate a team and to maintain positive morale in the workplace.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Physically fit and able to work in a demanding environment

    N400,000.00 - N450,000.00

    Requirements
