Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Three to five years of related experience required.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficient with payroll software.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and maintain valid auto liability insurance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department as needed.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
  • Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
  • Identifies and recommends updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments as needed.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings as needed.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verification's as needed.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs as needed.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave;
  • disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale;
  • occupational health and safety; and training and development as needed.

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and / or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Functional Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll function including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to communicate verbally and in writing to the extent required by the position.
  • Able to travel as needed.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Light to moderate physical activity required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
