About the opportunity

The Job

We are looking for a seriously creative financial writer to produce original editorial thought leadership content on a range of investment topics.

You will help us take Fidelity to the forefront of our clients’ minds across Asia and around the world through engaging articles, witty tweets or WeChat posts, credible white papers, while also chipping in with editing and rewriting, or potentially even contributing to multimedia projects like videos and podcasts.

All this for a variety of audiences including clients, potential clients and the people who influence them - primarily in the institutional and wholesale space.

The Team

Editorial is a well-established function at Fidelity, and is evolving quickly to meet the needs of our clients. We have a multidisciplinary team of writers and producers as well as a production team to run our studios in London and Hong Kong our work regularly wins international awards, setting the standard for the industry and beating broadcasters and media outlets at their own game.

We work closely with our investment colleagues to find the best and most relevant ideas, which our distribution teams then use to engage with more than 2.

5 million clients across Asia Pacific, Europe, Canada, the Middle East and South America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceive, research and write digital-friendly investment content, mainly for institutional and wholesale clients in Asia and beyond.
  • Collaborate with other Asia and London-based team members on regional and global writing projects, as well as on multimedia projects like videos and podcasts.
  • Liaise with investment and distribution teams to really understand Fidelity’s thinking and our clients’ needs.
  • Experience and Qualifications Required

    This is a creative content role which requires excellent writing skills, a solid grasp of financial markets and strong research and idea generation abilities.

    You’ll need a creative eye for conveying ideas powerfully across a range of media. We strive to be professional, well-informed and have good interpersonal skills, as you’ll need to be credible when talking to our top investment talent.

    Many of our clients are financially sophisticated, if not investment experts themselves so you’ll need to be able to handle complex ideas and explain

    difficult concepts using clear and simple language.

    Specifically, the candidate should have a mix of the following skills and experience :

  • A digital-first publishing approach and experience in writing for audiences online, with evidence of success.
  • A deep understanding of investment, asset management and diverse client groups.
  • Excellent writing skills the ability to research a topic in depth and produce clear and insightful copy to deadlines. Prior experience in financial journalism or investment communications is desirable, as is experience and evidence of writing long-form pieces or white papers.
  • Experience in multimedia platforms such as TV or digital broadcasting a distinct advantage.

  • Native-level written and spoken English (fluency in Chinese or another Asian language would be a distinct advantage).
  • Willing to conduct occasional travel within Asia, as well as less frequent travel to other destinations where Fidelity operates.
  • Strong research, idea generation and information-handling skills with the ability to grasp important themes and substantiate arguments with credible details and facts.
  • Creativity in producing thoughtful arguments, presented in an accessible way.
  • Educated to degree level, perhaps with a CFA or similar.
  • Initiative and intellectual curiosity.
  • The confidence and credibility to work face-to-face with senior executives, portfolio managers and research analysts. The successful candidate will be expected to form strong relationships with the investment teams to understand their areas of expertise and produce content that leads the industry.
