The Role

Our Health and Benefits business helps large

and mid-size clients control health and welfare plan costs, improve health

outcomes and promote employee engagement through broad-based, state-of-the-art

interventions. We provide solutions encompassing creative plan design,

vendor evaluation and management, pricing and funding strategies, data

analytics, valuation support, compliance and governance strategies. We

also provide Specialty consulting services including clinical / health management

program design, pharmacy solutions, disability / absence management strategies

and claims audit services.

As a Health and Benefits Consultant dedicated

to Sales you will consult on a wide variety of complex projects involving the

design, pricing, funding, implementation and management of a full array of

Health and Benefits programs including medical, dental, life, disability, business

travel, retirement and flexible benefits.You will serve as the project manager and day to day communication

liaison with our clients, create client deliverables, contribute to client

management and new business activities, and participate in the creation of new

intellectual capital.

Performance Objectives :


  • Mentor and coach
  • members of pursuit and client teams to develop selling and relationship management

    skills and to maximise our success rate.


  • Develop and manage
  • a pipeline of existing WTW and new to WTW prospects;
  • Manage prospects
  • through the sales process from discovery to contractual agreements;
  • Research
  • prospects’ business, buying habits, competitive landscape and leverage

    that data / insights to inform business planning and creation of chase teams

  • within Willis Towers Watson;
  • Develop
  • client / prospect account plans / strategies and drive execution of action

  • plans;
  • Become influential
  • at many levels of the prospect organisation to promote new business;
  • Interface with
  • colleagues from other practices in the region on to enable cross-selling

    of WTW’s broader business services.

  • Develop a trusted
  • advisor relationship with client and prospect contacts through effective

    communication and relationship building.


  • Promote and model
  • the principles of effective business development and client management

    throughout the company.

  • Develop a broad
  • understanding of the Health and Benefits space and WTW’s key


  • Develop a broad
  • understanding of Willis Towers Watson services and products

  • Understand and
  • stay current on prospects business situation, strategy and HR, risk and

    finance needs.

  • Preparing and
  • submitting formal business tenders and proposals

  • Ability to
  • articulate in meetings, in written communications and in formal

    presentations, the overall Willis Towers Watson proposition and

    specifically the features and benefits of our products and services.

  • Accurately
  • record pipeline and sales activity on CRM

  • Achieve
  • or exceed sales targets in new business revenue

  • Oversee
  • procurement and contract / commercial terms and negotiations

  • Ensure
  • that client / prospect relationships are secure and financially sound, and

    that all parties have a clear understanding of Willis Towers Watson

    financial arrangements, policies and procedures.

  • Build
  • relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional

    teams and across different teams and geographies.

  • Demonstrate
  • natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients / colleagues at all


  • Coach colleagues
  • in the region on the nuances of the role, cross-selling and building

    lasting client relationships.

    The Requirements

  • 10+ years’
  • experience of business development in a consulting environment of

    financial service sector

  • Successful track
  • record in selling solutions to senior stakeholders.

  • Understanding of
  • medical insurance, risk benefits (Life assurance, Disability, Critical

    Illness) and knowledge of Retirement solutions would be an added advantage.

  • Ability to
  • identify and qualify appropriate prospective clients.

  • Ability to
  • generate a need with clients for our services and products

  • Ability to
  • communicate at all levels within the client-facing environment

  • English speakers
  • required, additional regional languages like French would be an added

  • Strong
  • interpersonal and team skills

  • Polished and well
  • developed oral and written communication skills

  • Self-starter
  • attitude and ability to work with ambiguity

  • Flexibility
  • and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues

  • Nigerian
  • Citizen or holder of Permanent Residency in Nigeria

  • Willing
  • to travel to within and outside Nigeria as necessary to support client


  • Working knowledge of Excel, MS Project, MS
  • Word

  • Bachelor’s Degree or insurance industry related Diploma
  • preferred
