Our client is a leading Building Materials and ConstructionCompany located in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
The Quality Assurance / Quality Control isresponsible for managing and performing the daily QC responsibilities ofspecific project to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with theestablished minimum standards.
The role includes direct oversight and review ofthe entire documentation and physical inspection phase of the work flow processand working with other in-
house personnel (e.g. Project Managers,Superintendents, etc.) and external personnel to produce and document a qualityproduct.
Create, update, andmaintain the project submittal log and all other project specific qualitycontrol reports.
Review shopdrawings and submittals for conformance with project specifications by directreview and by leveraging the knowledge and experience of others in the projectteam when necessary.
Chair and documentweekly QC meetings with the superintendent and provide written minutes asdescribed in project specific contract documents.
Provide writtendaily QC reports that reinforce activities that are being constructed inconformance with each specific project’s established standard andconstructively confronts non-
conformances to produce the desired outcome in atimely manner.
Conductpreparatory, initial and follow up meetings to establish an understanding ofthe standards of care desired for each definable feature of work.
Verify thatchecklists are being used and signed off prior to the placement of concrete,steel and other similar items of work.
Verify and documentthat all materials received for the project are in conformance with theapproved submittal, are handled and stored appropriately and are acceptable foruse in the project
Conductpreconstruction meetings with new and existing subcontractors and the superintendentat least two days prior to the start of the each new phase of the work todiscuss issues that affect quality.
Document these meetings in the daily QCreport and preparatory phase reports.
Schedule, documentthe results of, and maintain a log of all code and independent inspections thatare required. Clearly document, correct and re-
inspect all non-conformancesprior to covering up work.
Conduct periodicfollow up inspections to verify that work is proceeding with the contractdocuments and the approved submittals.
Coordinate anddocument the testing and commissioning of building systems.
Document anddistribute pre-punch lists, punch lists and the completion of these lists.
Document finalinspections, certificates of occupancy and acceptance of the works and variousphases thereof.
Maintain theproject as-built’ drawings on a daily basis.
Assemble andforward project closeout documents that include O&M manuals, as-built and warranties.
Stop work ifnecessary resolve matters that affect safety, quality and / or inhibit thelogical progress of work.
Relevant qualitytraining degree or certificate
Civil Engineeringqualification (HND, BSC or equivalent)
Minimum of 8 years’experience
Must be Computerliterate and very knowledgeable in Microsoft packages
